Path / Upendra Subba

उपेन्द्र सुब्बा

I was walking carelessly

on my own way, and all at once

you happened to arrive, from

somewhere not known

to block my way.

A stranger you were.

I intended to speak not,

but, you asked me- “where does this path go?” and I was compelled to speak,

and said- “this path goes far away

adjacent to my courtyard”

While going, you went through

very close to my home and courtyard

eventually, you went through by tendering

my heart and soul.

And then, abruptly

my anxiety started increasing.

For reasons unknown,

I wanted to keep waiting for you

at the crossroad; whether

you would come involuntarily again

passing through the same path.

I felt, the earth is round, to

meet a person repeatedly; and you would

ask again- “where does this path go?”

and I would reply- “this path goes up to my heart”.

I happened to fancy as such.

Now, whom should I ask the way

that reaches to your courtyard?
